Fun: 5. 0 out of 5 stars Wintersports The first title in Nintendo Wii is very strong, especially in the budget price.
The presentation is very solid. The game runs with a widescreen mode, has smooth graphics and great sound. In addition to music in the game, two European ingenious commentators that provide some interesting and funny jokes. There is a very fair opening and medal ceremonies complete with national anthems. Charging times are minimal, and the error is not present.
There are more than fifteen years in almost every discipline event, the Winter Olympics. There are two types of skating, several varieties of Skiing, skeleton, luge bobsled, figure skating and curling. Most of the events controls very well and offer intelligent and innovative use of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck. With the sliding sports, for example, while on the track with remote control in steering wheel. With skating, you use the remote and Nunchuk as a rhythm game, similar to the method used in the Wii version of "Dancing with the Stars." Unfortunately Curling controls appears to be broken or at least very difficult to use. But all the other good control events.
The game has a skill development career mode, 4-player multiplayer, play-off events and traditional tournament modes. In general, the price of a very solid package that is agreeable both single and multiplayer modes.
Fun: 5. 0 out of 5 stars We are relatively new to the Wii, so can not compare with all the games out there, but I can tell so far is a blast for our family and a favorite for adults and children. We played skating, skiing and tobogganing and games are already addicted.
The games vary in difficulty and the types of action – we are still trying to do down the slopes without wiping several times, but skating is fairly easy for a lot of action in her arms. We enjoy the variety and we still have many games to explore.
I would also add that so far every game has a choice between two players split screen in order to compete against each other. You can see his genius opponent, or vice versa, are competing.
The realistic / human-like players are good, too. It's not like Mario cartoons, but has more life like graphics. You may not select players look like, but you can choose the country that are competing for.
Miscellaneous:
Music: good music competition type. Fun to play a.
Audio and Video: nice and realistic. I especially like ski noise. It feels like you are really on the slopes without refrigeration. Visually, it is realistic, because there are effects like snow sprays are sometimes unclear in part on your ability to see what is ahead, etc. Oh, and the sled is a journey. You feel as if you are traveling very fast. Maybe it's not true, but it's a fun substitute.
Age level: either a highly integrated 5.8 or 8 years or more (may be difficult for smaller).
I hope they will make a version of the Summer Games next. I would definitely buy it again in a heartbeat.
Fun: 5. 0 out of 5 stars I took a chance when I saw some comments here. Thank you all! This is a surprising winner. Fabulous graphics, challenging gameplay (different levels of difficulty), and in particular affordable price makes this a wonderful extension of the Wii Sports / Mario & Sonic Olympics type.
So far we have focused on some of the events, although we have seen them all. Speed skating was the first thing we tried. It was good for my 6 years of age. He would not stop playing. It is a challenge to maintain the meters at optimal levels, even on the easiest difficulty.
The ski jump took a while to get to know the controls and timely start-up and browse consistently through the air to a safe landing. Regulators are super-sensitive so you must have a very nice touch.
My favorite was the sleigh so far. Took a race to get the hang of it, but it's more like a racing game where you try to find the right spot, with the exception of the start which is different than I expected (not easy) you can move your controller in a circular motion to increase the speed and power. Still have not managed to get the best start. The graphics go down the track is a blast. You can also see the lights that show the optimum location (at least in Easy mode), but not exactly easy to keep the sled there.
We can not wait to open up alternative locations for the events too. This game so far seems very well thought out and developed. It is worth the money and everything else is gravy. This is a great addition to the library of games and entertainment for all ages. It surprised me, even my wife liked it and did not want to give up their driver (s).
Update on Curling (3 / 12): Tricky to get the hang of the controls, but when you do, this game is fantastic. My children loved curling while watching the Olympics last winter. They love to see it here, but surely take some time to learn the controls. As a general note: read notes on-screen controls. It may take a while, but worth it
