I am a private pilot instrument rating. While Flight Simulator is not a perfect substitute for actual flight has its advantages (not least because it costs $ 139/hr to rent "wet".)
I had this book since October, and I love it. (I would have loved even more if he had had several years ago when I earned my license and ratings. It is very useful.)
As I add the other comments is that the two authors – both flight instructors – do an excellent job of taking in-flight in flight simulator and reality are different, for example, in communication with ATC IFR approvals exist, and operation of the G1000.
FS Real World Education is an invaluable book. Although he had already "gone" many of the lessons in FSX flight was still not sure my flying skills. There are many things that were (pardon the expression) in the air. When I bought this book I began to feel like a rookie starting again. Many of the points that I lost before they are comprehensive and detailed and, ultimately, is all pointless. As a result, I appreciate my flight simulator, more than ever. Apart from the vast amount of interesting details and information that I think the important thing is that the reader will make connections. The information to connect from one chapter to the next stage and therefore, by the way, everything fits. Go through this book is a very pleasant experience. Another advantage is the large number of free and Mission graphics available on Wiley. com website, which is nice and helpful.
Although the title of this remarkable teaching manual, there are real pilots using Microsoft Flight Simulator as a training tool, I can enthusiastically recommend to pilots and simulator.
I learned so much from the writers who are real world pilots and instructors had not learned from other sources. I think when you're done with manual tasks, I have completed VFR and IFR instruction area but I am not a pilot and control the real world Flight Sim my flight only.
The book is extremely practical as a good teaching must be manual. It offers a step by step to flight training for the twin-engine Piper Cub Beechcraft Baron and beyond. A novice well acquainted with the flight simulator can use this book from beginning to become competent in VFR flight before thinking sophisticated avionics and flight instruments. It is full of practical advice and provides background to the theory of flight, which can be obtained from other sources.
There are plenty of additional resources on web page editor to expand the material further. You can download the strategy and style sheets for the missions included.
I can not recommend this book strongly enough for the simulator pilots is simply wonderful!
